A health sciences manufacturer headquartered in Midwestern U.S.
The organization desired to attract a diverse workforce, establish an inclusive culture, positively impact their local community, and be a leader in their industry. The CEO launched a listening tour following the death of George Floyd. Following his conversations with employees, he decided to go beyond the listening tour and work with the National Diversity Council to develop a long term, sustainable DEI strategy.
NDC conducted in-depth discovery conversations with the company’s top leadership and the head of HR. As a result, we agreed that a key deliverable would be for NDC to help develop a sustainable DEI strategy and action plan. In order to do this, we collected quantitative and qualitative data. In particular, we looked at specific quantitative variables such as hires, terminations, pay equity, performance reviews, promotions, and awards. We also conducted a cultural assessment that included demographically based focus groups, leader interviews, and an online survey. When data was collected, we facilitated a feedback session with the organization. We helped the organization identify DEI goals that were also aligned with their operational goals plus establish DEI strategies and priorities.
The organization realized that, among other things, some of their internal processes that touched people should be more equitable. It appointed an internal DEI leader and formed an internal DEI advisory committee. It has begun work on 5 strategic areas including leadership DEI competencies, talent acquisition, and training. We will conduct another assessment later to determine the organization’s overall progress compared to their initial baseline data.

A mid-size regional accounting firm headquartered in Houston, Texas
Deliver 2-3 hours of DEI training for all employees with an additional 90 minute inclusive leadership training for all partners.
NDC designed and delivered DEI training that was offered multiple times via zoom to 30 – 40 employees at a time including partners, and then an additional 90 minutes on addressing organizational unconscious bias and inclusive leadership for firm partners. Training included multiple small group breakout room discussions and customized scenario discussions on how to handle situations which could actually occur in the workplace.
The training was very well received, so much so that the client posted a testimonial about the training on its corporate LinkedIn account.
